Kristen Thiemann is a Korean-American artist based in New Jersey. Moving from a small town in Missouri to New Jersey's largest Korean ethnoburb changed everything about her relationship with her race, ethnicity, gender, and the politics of identity. Her portraiture explores the tensions between the understanding of identity and forces that alter self-perception. Her artwork has been featured in galleries in both New Jersey and New York City. She is currently a participant in the Uncool Artist International Residency of Brooklyn.
